By Tuesday, August 16th, excavation will have started on the new Cedar Rapids Schools' Student-built House. The nearly 1500 sq. ft. house will mark the 45th year that the school district has built a student house. Thirty-one students in the Building Trades class are set to begin work on the year long project.
The house, scheduled for completion by the end of the school year, will be marketed and sold by Bob Lehman of Coldwell Bankers Hedges Realty. Located at 1710 Bobcat Dr. NW, Cedar Rapids, the house will be the student's classroom as they explore hands on construction under the guidance of instructor David Smith and area crafts and tradespersons.
